Formiga Waterfall, Jalapão – Tocantins

Although small, Cachoeira da Formiga has a large volume of water that forms a crystalline well in the midst of trees. The pool, 8 meters in diameter and 2 meters deep, in an emerald green tone, has pleasant temperatures perfect for diving, swimming and also offers a refreshing break from the heat of Jalapão. When diving with your eyes open, it is possible to perceive an incredible contrast of colors: the white sand, the green algae and the blue tone formed by the whirlpool of water give this place a sensational color.

The waterfall has this curious name because of the Rio Formiga. Like other charms of this region, it is on a private property that belongs to quilombolas remnants, who live inside the Jalapão State Park, and you have to pay for the visit.

Santa Barbara Waterfall, Cavalcante – Goiás

Santa Bárbara Waterfall is one of the most sought after destinations in Chapada dos Veadeiros. The crystal blue water and the 30-meter high drop delight the eyes.

This paradise hidden in the middle of the cerrado is located in the quilombola community of Kalunga Engenho II, in the rural area of Cavalcante. And as it is on a private property, entry is paid, R$20 per person and access can only be done with a guide who can be hired at the tourist center in the region.

The best time to visit the waterfall is during the dry season, between the months of May and September, when the colors of the water, oscillating between blue, green and turquoise, are at their most vivid. The maximum time of stay at the waterfall is only 1 hour and there is a limited number of visits per day, so go early and take the opportunity to visit the other beautiful waterfalls in the surroundings.

Boca da Onça Waterfall, Bodoquena – Mato Grosso do Sul

58 km from the city of Bonito, the Boca da Onça waterfall is the highest in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul at 156 meters high. The trail to reach the waterfall has more than 5 km of moderate walk through preserved forest, passing by 12 other waterfalls. For those who like adventure, the Boca da Onça trail ends at a 90-meter wall where you can go down with abseiling. But there are trails to the end for those who don't get along very well with heights. And in the end, the prize is a crystal clear pool of extremely blue waters that invite you to take a delicious dip.

At the end of the tour, which lasts all day, the visitor can rest in an area where lunch is prepared on a wood stove, swimming pools with running water and hydromassage, in addition to more waterfalls to enjoy.

Serra Azul Waterfall, Nobres – Mato Grosso

145 kilometers from Cuiabá is Cachoeira Serra Azul, one of the places that cannot be missed on your list when you decide to visit Mato Grosso.

To access the 40-meter high waterfall, there are 700 meters of trail that would be easily overcome if it weren't for the 470 steps of the steep staircase up there. To get there you need a guide. Sesc, which owns the entire area around the waterfall, does not authorize autonomous tours without the use of life jackets and appropriate sandals.

In addition to the wonderful scenery formed by the surrounding nature, the waterfall forms a bluish lake full of piraputangas, dourados, piaus and many other species of fish. Due to its extremely crystalline waters, the lake is inviting for those who want to snorkel. With the sun hitting the water directly, the blue gets more and more intense.

The tour to Serra Azul Waterfall costs R$ 50 and includes the guide service and necessary equipment: life jacket, sandals and snorkel.
