The undeniably more traditional and well-known route for backpackers and adventurers who decide to explore the Amazon region connects the two main capitals, manaus and Bethlehem.
There are 1606 km covered by waterways, most of which are on the Amazon River, which are done in 5 days by boat in the direction of the water flow (Manaus x Belém) and 6 in the opposite direction (Belem x Manaus). Located at the furthest point north of Brazil, The Mount Roraima It is among the oldest geological formations on the planet. In this sense, occupying the seventh highest point in Brazil, this is the type of destination that every adventurer aspires to do at least once in their lifetime.
Travel agencies offer classic trekking in the region with a minimum duration of 9 days, which can be extended. In fact, the scenarios are really enchanting. During the walk, stops are made at waterfalls, lakes, very different rock formations, rocky walls and viewpoints that offer a different view of the region. Other curiosities of the region are the endemic species of animals and plants, for example carnivorous plants and a frog with the proportions of a fingernail.
If you have more time in the region, try to visit Salto do Anjo, or Angel Falls, since, at 979 meters high, it ranks as the highest waterfall in the world. At first, the entrance to the attraction is made on the Venezuelan part of Monte Roraima and the tour can be hired at tourist agencies.

The capital of Amazonas is just a few kilometers from another unusual city, quite different from the destinations promoted in northern region of the country: the municipality of Presidente Figueiredo.
Known as “The land of Amazonian waterfalls”, Presidente Figueiredo gained fame for its beautiful waterfalls, rapids and caves. The municipality is just 107 km from Manaus and deserves a few days to contemplate the well-preserved nature of this region.
Be sure to visit Cachoeira do Santuário, Pedra Furada Waterfall and Judea Cave, adorned with a thin waterfall and rocky walls with curious shapes.

The third most populous city in Pará has its own airport and is the fastest way to get to Alter do Chão. Despite being small, the town is located at the most beautiful point of the Tapajós River and has easy access to many other wonders of this area known for its wonderful river beaches.
After discovering the charms of Ilha do Amor, discover the riverside communities of the Tapajós River, such as Jamaraquá and Maguary, two communities located within the Tapajós National Forest, the FLONA, an environmental preservation area with ancient trees.
On the other hand, another highlight of the Amazon region is the Arapiuns River, an affluent watercourse of the Tapajós River, with numerous charming communities and wild beaches, which are formed by impressive white sand banks.
If you want to know a little more about the history of the region, visit the city of Belterra and the ghost town of Fordland, 30 km from Santarém.
Manaus and Novo Airão + Anavilhanas Archipelago and Jaú National Park

The Anavilhanas Archipelago forms one of the Rio Negro regions richest in biodiversity. Considered a National Park, the area is home to one of the largest freshwater archipelagos on the planet, with around 400 islands.
The Anavilhanas National Park is between the municipalities of Manaus and Novo Airão, and is also known for its white sand beaches that form during the dry season.
Those who arrive in Novo Airão can still choose to extend a few days in the region and also get to know the beauties of the Jaú National Park. You can decide between staying in a jungle hotel in the municipality and discovering both attractions independently or embarking on expeditions on traditional boats that pass through the reserves.

Located where the Amazon River meets the Atlantic Ocean, Ilha do Marajó has one of the most preserved and beautiful areas in the state of Pará. The island is divided into 12 cities, with Soure and Salvaterra being the most visited by tourists arriving via Belém.
Marajó Island is certainly surrounded by mysteries and stories of millenary indigenous tribes who lived in advanced societies. In short, these tribes worked on the art of modeling clay, producing marajoara pottery, a tradition of the island that survives to this day.
The highlights are the deserted beaches and farms of Soure, such as Fazenda Bom Jesus and Fazenda São Jerônimo, famous for serving as the setting for the No Limite program. For sure, far beyond what most people know in the Amazon.

Rio Branco is close to Brazil's triple border with Bolivia and Peru. Thus, this is one of the itineraries in the Amazon for those who really want to know the heart of the largest tropical forest on the planet, since the capital of Acre is in one of the most isolated points in the region.
Finally, the city is surrounded by several environmental reserves and indigenous tribes, a destination still little explored by tourists, which contains eclectic scenarios of beliefs, races, customs and cultural manifestations.
Porto Velho is 515 km from Rio Branco, leaning on the banks of the Madeira River, the city was founded by the American company Madeira Mamoré Railway Company during the construction of the Madeira-Mamoré Railway, considered an audacious work at the time.
