Brazil closes land borders: measure is valid for 15 days for foreigners who want to enter the country

After suspending the international bus travel for 60 days, the federal government announced this Thursday (19) the closing of Brazil's borders with neighboring countries. This is another of the actions taken with the aim of containing the advance of the coronavirus in Brazil.

According article published in G1, the information is that the measure is valid for foreigners who are in these countries and want to enter Brazil. However, in the case of Brazilians who are abroad, entry is allowed.

Therefore, so far the restriction is valid for 15 days (from this Thursday, 19) only for land routes and not for airports. According to the ordinance, the foreigner who fails to comply with the entry restriction into the country will be deported immediately and will not be able to apply for refuge.

The action is valid for the entry of foreigners into Brazil from the following countries:

  • Argentina
  • Bolivia
  • Colombia
  • Guyana
  • French Guiana
  • Paraguay
  • Peru

The government had already announced the closing of land borders with Venezuela a few days ago. In the case of Uruguay, the ordinance informs that the closing of borders is being negotiated.
