After loosening restrictive measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus, tourist spots in China appeared to be crowded last weekend.
Last weekend, crowds of people gathered at several popular Chinese tourist spots. The concentration took place after the country relaxed restrictive measures to contain the advances of the new coronavirus. However, despite the health authorities' warning that the return to normal activities should be carried out gradually, the images show the opposite.
Photographic records made in the Huangshan Mountain, which is accessed via narrow suspended platforms, show thousands of people huddled together to visit the attraction. Because of this, the attraction had to issue a warning of a maximum capacity of 20,000 people, to keep away tourists who arrived throughout the day.
In addition, the streets of the commercial areas of Shanghai also attracted many people and tourists in search of good purchases. This also happened with restaurants, which had full reservations in recent days. The capital Beijing also recorded the same situation, with people vying for space in parks and attractions around the city.
Coronavirus is still a concern
Massive access to tourist attractions, especially in Huangshan Mountain, has an explanation. The park launched a promotion with free admission to the site, which would also symbolize a tribute to ancestors and those who died as a result of the virus. Typically, entry costs the equivalent of R$140. To access the site, people had to wear masks and take their temperature.
Despite this attempt at a slow return to normal life, Chinese authorities are still warning of the dangers of the coronavirus. The first case of the disease was recorded in wuhan, in the province of Hubei, about three months ago. Since then, the country has been one of the most affected by the pandemic, registering, until last week, more than 80 thousand cases and more than 3 thousand deaths.
According article published on CNN, restrictions on movement in the country were intense during this period, with border closures and total quarantine. After these actions, the rate of infection decreased enough, but not enough to stop its spread: last Monday the Asian country recorded 39 new cases.
