The city of Cusco, at the Peru, is one of the most visited destinations in the South America. The reason is the easy access to the archaeological site of Machu Picchu and the vestiges that the ancient capital of the Incas carries to this day of this incredible civilization.

Many tourists do not know, but the city is located in a region surrounded by signs of the Inca peoples who lived in the region. In just a few kilometers from Cusco it is already possible to discover inca ruins imposing buildings that help to understand a little more about Inca history and customs.

Known as El Baño del Inca, the site contains bathtubs and channels for the flow of water springs that spring up in the region.

It functioned as a huge fort that protected tambomachay. The name means strong red due to the color of the stones that are in the place. The ruin is located on top of a small hill with a beautiful view of the region.

A small labyrinth of stones that served as a place for a ceremony for the Incas, inside the ruin there is a grotto with an altar that supposedly served to make sacrifices.

The most preserved ruin and closest to Cusco, it has walls and portals formed by the perfect fit of millimetrically correct carved rocks, being an impressive example of the architecture made by the Incas. Some of these rocks weigh up to 350 tons and were brought to Sacsayhuaman over paths of tens of kilometers.

Located in the middle of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, in the province of Urubamba, 60 km in a straight line from the city of Cusco, Ollantaytambo I owned one of most important archaeological sites in Peru. The ruins have religious, urban, astronomical and agricultural complexes that served as an accommodation city with a strategic position to dominate the territory.

Another ruin in the region of the Sacred Valley of the Incas that is very interesting to visit is Pisac. THE archaeological site is located 33 km away from Cusco at 2972 meters of altitude! The city was built as a military outpost to fight invaders until it became a residential and ceremonial center. One of the must-see attractions within the archaeological site is the Temple of the Sun, an area that was previously used as an astronomical observatory.
