Prefecture of SP determines closing of municipal parks because of the coronavirus. Decree was published this Friday (20) in the Official Gazette this Friday
Mayor Bruno Covas (PSDB) published in the Official Gazette this Friday (20) a decree that determines the closure of all municipal parks in the city of São Paulo. The measure starts to work from Saturday (21). Among the parks that will be closed, is Ibirapuera, the most frequented in the city.
“It is determined the closure, for an indefinite period, of the municipal parks under the management of the Municipal Secretariat for the Green and the Environment, as well as the Bicycle Park and the Sports, Recreation and Educational Center for Workers – CERET”, orders Covas. Villa Lobos, in the West Zone, because it is state-owned, is not part of the decree, and its suspension depends on a decree from Governor João Doria.
Despite the recommendation for people to stay at home, many green areas in the city are being used by athletes, especially after the suspension of activities in São Paulo's gyms.
