Known for luxury and mega-constructions, Dubai boasts some of the most impressive hotels in the world. Now the country will receive a new floating resort near Dubai Marina.
The floating resort, called Sea Palace, is being built by Seagate Shipyard, a shipbuilding company. The resort will consist of a luxury hotel surrounded by six houseboats, which can detach and sail on their own. The architecture was inspired by glass-bottomed boats, and the homes will have transparent floors and furniture designed by Aston Martin.

All homes are operated by automatic smart systems and include self-sterilizing air filters, solar energy panels and waste recycling systems.
“I believe this type of project will create a boom in the field of tourism,” said Mohammed El Bhawravi, the founder of Seagate Shipyard and owner of the project. The company says the project is about 65% complete and the homes are currently in the last stages of construction.
Dubai reopened to travelers in July, and visitors must take a PCR test for COVID-19 within 96 hours of their flight departure. The emirate also announced new visas for digital nomads and remote workers that do not require an Emirati sponsor but give visitors access to benefits such as opening a bank account and enrolling children in local schools, which were previously only granted to residents.
