By With gardens and rest areas, the first stretch of Minhocão Park should be ready in 2020
the agitated Sao Paulo will gain another green space soon. After decades of successive obstacles, Mayor Bruno Covas announced the construction of a park in Elevado Presidente João Goulart, known as Minhocão, which connects the city center to the West Zone of the capital.
according to a article published on the website of Veja São Paulo magazine, The Minhocão Park will occupy part of the more than 3 kilometers of extension of the road. In total, there will be more than 17,500 square meters with gardens, flowerbeds and decks for the population.

What will Parque Minhocão look like?
In the first stage of construction, the Minhocão Park it will occupy only 900 meters of the track, from Praça Roosevelt to Praça do Arouche. The project, based on a study by the urban planner and former mayor of Curitiba, Jaime Lerner, will have an estimated investment of 38 million reais.
The proposal presents nine accesses for pedestrians along the elevated, with the installation of elevators and ramps. A bike path will also be built along the length of the track with trees on its sides. Large green areas will provide a beach atmosphere in the middle of the rocky jungle.
The design also includes bamboo structures to increase shadows and resting areas in the space. In addition, temporary stages will be set up for the presentation of shows. For the future, the project foresees the construction of walkways to connect the structure of the worm to some buildings in its surroundings.

The completion of this first stage of the project is scheduled for 2020 and the works should start in February. However, there is still no forecast for the implementation of the second stage of the construction of the Minhocão Park.
