Find out what has changed with the new baggage rules and have no surprises on your next trip
Even those who do not travel often must have seen the news that they were created new baggage rules, which by the way are already in effect. Now you need to pay a little more attention when buying a ticket and in fact read all the information provided by the airline so you don't have any surprises.
You must be wondering what the reason for all this is, and here's the answer: Brazil was one of the very few countries that imposed baggage rules to the companies, and with the change each company can define the values that it will charge to dispatch its bags.
Passengers, on the other hand, would benefit from the advantage of being able to find cheap tickets more easily, since the excess value is no longer included in the fare. In theory, the values of flights in Brazil should reduce, as it exempts airlines from this cost, but so far there have been no major changes in prices.
And that's where you have to be careful: the rule of checking all the information available at the time of purchase is especially valid if your ticket price is low, because in these cases they only include your hand luggage and if you have a suitcase to check you will have an extra expense at the airport. It is possible to add this luggage during the purchase process, but you will still have to pay, although the value in this case is a little lower.
The numbers of the new baggage rules
Now let's talk a little about some numbers that permeate the new baggage rules, whether they are values, deadlines or measures:
With the new legislation, it is possible to have with you in the cabin a piece of luggage weighing up to 10 kg whose measurements do not exceed 115 cm. It is also allowed to take extra volume, such as a bag.
Values for checked baggage
Each airline is really working on the values it believes are best when it comes to checked baggage. There are those that charge R$30.00 and others that charge R$50.00, for example, and it is not uncommon to have to pay practically twice as much if the payment is made in person and at the last minute.
For international travel, don't be surprised if you have to pay in dollars. Therefore, the tip: read carefully all the information when buying an air ticket and if you have questions, consult the company that issued your ticket.
