Inspired by the Caminho de Santigado da Compostela, the route covers 200 kilometers in five municipalities, joining the sanctuaries of Canela and Farroupilha
Those who enjoy long-distance walks and pilgrimages, passing through beautiful landscapes and almost century-old churches, now have a great new route to go. inspired by famous and mystical Camino de Santiago de Compostela, the recently inaugurated tourist route, named “paths of Caravaggio”, travels 200 kilometers through several mountain towns in the Rio Grande do Sul.
In addition to incredible landscapes, passing through hills, rivers, bridges, valleys, plains and dirt road, pilgrims will make the journey that joins the sanctuaries of Caravaggio de Canela and Farroupilha, passing by more than 20 churches along the way. The proposal, in addition to being dazzled by the impressive landscapes, aims to provide spiritual elevation and overcoming challenges.

Along the way, pilgrims will be able to count on inns to stay during the days, in addition to support points with food and water. In addition, the route is already marked with signs and horizontal signs. A guide will also be released with all the information and support needed for tourists.
The route runs through urban and rural areas of the municipalities of Farroupilha, Caxias do Sul, Nova Petrópolis, Lawn, Canela and takes approximately 10 days to complete, considering an average of 18 to 25 kilometers of daily walks. Those who prefer, can also make the path by bicycle.

The starting point can be left to the pilgrim's discretion, who can start the trail between Farroupilha or Canela. It is recommended that hikers take a walking stick, backpack and that they notify relatives and family members since, at some points along the route, there is no cell phone signal. The route passes through tourist regions already known as the Grape, Wine and Hortênsias in the region.
The project "paths of Caravaggio” was conceived by the city halls of the cities through which the route passes, in addition to the support of the Association of Friends of the Way to Santiago de Compostela of the State of Rio Grande do Sul.
