Oktoberfest Blumenau: During several days of celebration, the people of Blumenau show their cultural wealth throughout Brazil, which preserve the customs of their ancestors from Germany

The festival of Germanic traditions that takes place during the month of October in Blumenau, brings thousands of people to the city and presents German customs, culture and gastronomy on Brazilian soil, attracting thousands of beer lovers from the four corners of Brazil. But those who believe that the Oktoberfest in Blumenau is just beer are wrong.

During the days of revelry, musical performances, dance shows and lots of typical cuisine is presented to the public that participates in the event.

The program of the party takes place inside the Pavilions of the Park Germanic Village, little piece of blumenau full of souvenir shops and restaurants that concentrates a large number of buildings and constructions with German influences in the city center.  

In 33 years of celebration, the organizers have already accounted for more than 20 million visitors and amazingly: 14 million liters of beer have already been consumed at the Oktoberfest in Blumenau. THE Oktoberfest Blumenau is the second largest German popular festival in the world, behind only the oktoberfest in Munich, event organized in Germany. The party was created in 1984 with the aim of recovering the city's economy and raising the morale of the population, after Blumenau suffered massive floods for two years in a row.

The opening of the festival is celebrated in a parade that traditionally takes place on XV de Novembro street and is certainly one of the biggest attractions of the city. oktoberfest. After the opening, the parade repeats itself at the same time every Wednesday, and Saturday at 16:00 hs. Whoever is wearing typical clothes from the Germany can also parade in an exclusive wing for properly dressed visitors. The cultural richness of the parades enchants everyone, with the presentation of cars from folkloric groups, the royalty of oktoberfest, in addition to bands and fanfares.

Another option for a trip to immerse yourself in the world of beer is the famous Museu da Cerveja de Blumenau, a space that presents collections of pieces that belonged to the extinct Cervejaria Feldmann, in Blumenau, and the Cervejaria Brahma. The collection has old equipment used in the manufacture of beer and other objects, photographs, documents and texts, which tell the history of the drink. The Beer Museum is open from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10 am to 4 pm.

THE oktoberfest have free entrance on certain days and times of the party. In special periods, visitors need to buy tickets to participate in the party. If you are a student, or dressed in typical party attire, you pay half admission. Teachers, seniors aged 60 and over and people with special needs can also guarantee half price.

How to get

The closest airports to Blumenau are Navegantes, followed by Joinville and then Florianópolis, with only Navegantes offering a free transfer to blumenau.
