Located 164 km from Rio de Janeiro, the Pontal do Atalaia it is a hill that invades the sea. There are two ways to get there: by boat-taxi or car. If you choose to go by sea, the boats leave from Praia do Farol and dock in a specific part of Prainhas. Generally, tours include a visit to the Blue Grotto, which I'll talk about next.

If you go by car, Pontal do Atalaia is 4 km from the center of Cable camp. The road has some stretches of dirt that can be damaged on rainy days. In addition, in high season, it is common to find a lot of traffic. On the other hand, the advantage of going by car is that access is through the upper part of Pontal, that is, tourists are treated to a beautiful landscape as soon as they arrive.

As I mentioned, there are no kiosks or restaurants in Pontal do Atalaia. Therefore, you must remember to bring food and drink. You may find some vendors and stalls in Prainhas in high season, but it's best to be safe.

The others Arraial do Cabo beaches have more structure, especially in relation to restaurants. Kiosks, bars and restaurants can be found on the beaches of Forno, dos Anjos, Grande and Prainha. The cuisine is mainly based on dishes based on fresh fish and seafood, but it is possible to find portions and snacks.

But let's get down to business? Do you want to know the main attractions of Praia do Pontal do Atalaia? So, check out our tips below:

Pontal do Atalaia Staircase

As the gateway to Pontal do Atalaia for those arriving by car, the staircase reveals the paradisiacal beauty of the place. As the tourist approaches the stairs, he contemplates the turquoise blue immensity of the sea that bathes this region and, as he descends the steps, he sees the contrast with the white sand of Prainhas.

The staircase is 150 meters long and is a great place to capture the beauty of Pontal do Atalaia.

Pontal do Atalaia viewpoint

Also at the entrance, it is possible to have an incredible view of the entire region at Mirante do Pontal do Atalaia. To do this, you have to go up a slope right after arriving at Condomínio Pontal do Atalaia. From the top you can see Praia Brava, on the left, and Praia Grande, on the right. The viewpoint is also great for admiring the sunset.

By the way, the top of the Pontal do Atalaia staircase is a great place to admire the sunset. Seeing the sun meet the turquoise sea of Arraial do Cabo is an impressive spectacle. The sunset is well played at the top of the stairs. Even so, you will always find a space between the rocks to sit and enjoy the beautiful sunset.

Prainhas are the main destination for those who go to Pontal do Atalaia. They are among the best beaches in Brazil and the world, and it's not hard to see why. The view is incredible: white sand, calm sea, with crystalline waters, sometimes blue and sometimes green, and, in the background, the Ilha do Farol. Many call them the Brazilian Caribbean.

They are known as Prainhas because the portion of sand is divided by the sea at high tide. During low tide, the beaches come together in the same strip of sand.

Boat tour and Blue Grotto

As I said earlier, one of the ways to get to Prainhas do Pontal do Atalaia is to take a boat trip from Praia do Farol. Boatmen usually arrange a time to pick up visitors. But this is not the only boat trip option for those visiting Pontal do Atalaia.

You can also take the boat ride from Praia dos Anjos, which also allows you to visit the Blue Grotto. In addition to the natural beauty of the rock formation, the spectacle of the waves against the rocks impresses tourists.

Known as the Brazilian Diving Capital, Arraial do Cabo has excellent conditions for the practice of water sports. And in Pontal do Atalaia it couldn't be different. A phenomenon called upwelling causes deep and transparent waters to rise to the surface, which also brings an immense amount of food and attracts abundant marine life. So diving in the region is incredible.

In addition to Prainhas do Pontal do Atalaia, Arraial do Cabo is in a privileged region for incredible places. Therefore, plan to visit the other beaches in the region.

Farol Beach

Located in a protected area of the Brazilian Navy, Praia do Farol is one of the most beautiful in the entire Lagos Region of Rio de Janeiro. However, to visit it is necessary to be aware of the public limitation. It is possible to stay just 45 minutes there, in boat trips authorized for 250 people at a time.

Pontal beach

Do not confuse Praia do Pontal with Praia do Pontal do Atalaia. Despite the similarity of the name, they are different places. Except for the stunning view, characteristic of all beaches in Arraial do Cabo. Praia do Pontal is the first in the city and is the continuation of the sandy strip of the beaches of Forte, Dunas and Foguete, in Cabo Frio. It is a very quiet and unpopular place.

little beach

Likewise, do not confuse Prainha with Prainhas do Pontal do Atalaia. It is right at the entrance of Arraial do Cabo and has blue waters and white sand, which reminds a lot of the Caribbean. It is a small cove between the Mirante and Forno hills, which usually receives many visitors, especially in the weekends.

Big beach

Praia Grande has more waves, due to the open sea, and therefore is frequented by surfers. It has excellent infrastructure to receive tourists and an extensive stretch of white sand, with a more deserted stretch for those seeking tranquility.

Praia dos Anjos

Praia dos Anjos is the gateway to Arraial do Cabo for those arriving by boat. From there, fishing boats and tourist trips depart. Therefore, the beach is not very suitable for bathing, as it receives many boats, coming and going, all day long.

Forno Beach

From Praia dos Anjos it is possible to reach Praia do Forno through a trail. One of the postcards of Arraial do Cabo, Praia do Forno is a cove of white sand and colorful sea amidst preserved vegetation. There are several bars and food carts. You can also rent kayaks there.

Praia Brava

Another beautiful stretch of sand in Arraial do Cabo, Praia Brava is located in the Costa del Sol State Park, where you can also find Prainhas and the Mirante do Pontal do Atalaia. This is one of the deserted beaches in the region and you can reach it by car or on foot along a trail of about 2 kilometers.
