Now it's official: Portugal open to Brazilians! After a long period of blockade, new measures were taken to allow Brazilian travelers to enter Portuguese lands.

finally the portuguese border is open to Brazilians. Gradually, governments have reduced restrictions, proposing more flexible measures regarding the entry of tourists into countries. 

After almost 18 months, the government of Portugal informed in an official statement that, as of September 1, it will reopen the border to Brazilian tourists. Previously open only for essential trips, such as professional or health reasons, the country should once again welcome travelers in search of leisure.

Today, with around 73% of the Portuguese population fully vaccinated, the country lifts most restrictions through a three-phase plan. This flexibility also allows the entry of Brazilians without the need for a period of quarantine before the trip, or the mandatory vaccination.

Furthermore, with the news of the easing of restrictions, the flights between Brazil and Portugal should return to daily frequency by December 2021. Are you going to embark for Portuguese lands? Don't forget to check the necessary documents and the updated rules to enter Portugal before traveling.

Airlines like Latam and the TAP, have already started to reinforce their air networks in order to meet the new demand that will arise with the change in borders. For now, it is still possible to find air tickets to Portugal with really attractive values, for different dates of 2021 and 2022.

Who can enter Portugal? Updated rules for entry of Brazilians

With the new measure, one of the government changes is about isolation. Now, with the new rule, Brazilian travelers bound for Portugal will not need to comply with quarantine.

Until the moment, the only requirement will be the presentation of a negative test for COVID-19, either PCR or antigen. In this way, it is concluded that it is also not mandatory to be vaccinated. 

Therefore, in the new rules to enter Portugal, the tourist must present

  • Molecular PCR Test issued up to 72 hours before departure; 

or

  • Rapid antigen test, with a maximum of 48 hours in advance. 

The test result may be required at various times, from check-in to the immigration desk in the country. 

Children under the age of 12 do not need to take the exam to enter Portugal. 

In principle, the measures are valid until September 16, varying according to the evolution of the epidemiological situation in both countries. The rules have been reviewed by the Portuguese government every 15 days.
