Check out must-see attractions and tips to include in an itinerary between Istanbul and Cappadocia

On a trip to Turkey, combining Istanbul and Cappadocia on the same itinerary is a more than right choice. That's because the two places bring together much of the Turkish beauties. To begin Istanbul, a city that, between imposing mosques, bazaars and historical places, makes an incredible link between West and East.

The region of cappadocia, in the Asian part of the country, is much sought after for its picturesque geological formations, balloon flights, underground cities, wild horses and for being the birthplace of São Jorge.

A great tip for setting up your itinerary is to avoid tours that take a whole day, so you have time to visit other sights. Also, don't make the mistake of visiting very similar places: Istanbul, for example, is full of mosques and palaces, choose just a few to avoid seeing more of the same. When making your itinerary, don't forget to consider some hours of rest, especially on the first and last day of your trip.

Also, to get the most out of your trip, consider travel times between attractions. THE guide in turkey is an agency based in Istanbul specialized in receiving Brazilians in the country, offering transport and Portuguese-speaking guides, including to other Turkish destinations, such as Cappadocia. This is a safe, comfortable and quick way to visit all the attractions that Turkey has to offer.

When planning an itinerary between Istanbul and Cappadocia, there are some essential attractions that you cannot miss. In Istanbul, consider at least four days to visit the city's main attractions.

It is worth starting the tours with nearby attractions, combining, for example, a visit to the Roman Hippodrome, built in the 4th century, with the Blue Mosque, one of the great postcards of the city. Very close to there is also the Hagia Sophia, which was once a church, an orthodox basilica and is currently a museum.

For those who like shopping, Istanbul is the ideal place. Schedule trips to the great Turkish bazaars, such as the unmissable Grand Bazaar and its more than 4,000 shops with typical products from the country. Another option to guarantee good finds and gifts is the Spice Bazaar which, despite not being as big as the first one, also has good product offers.

Another unmissable tour that takes you to discover two continents at once is the boat ride on the Bosphorus Canal, which passes through the imaginary line that separates Europe from Asia. Without a doubt, this is a unique opportunity that only a city like Istanbul can provide.

The itinerary of any traveler visiting Turkey should include beautiful Cappadocia. Consider at least three days to discover the beauties of this unique place in the world. The region is famous for its picturesque rock formations dotted all around – a sight that must be enjoyed on a classic hot air balloon ride. These tours fly over Goreme National Park, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and there are several flight options you can take.

However, Cappadocia is not just about balloon rides, it is worth exploring other places such as the Dervent Valley, which has formations that are more than 50 million years old. In addition, it is worth planning a visit to the Open Air Museum of Goreme, a place that features a large complex of medieval caves carved by monks.

One of the must-see attractions in Cappadocia is its underground cities. The region has more than 200 cities hidden under the rocks, and you can visit some of them, such as Kaymakli, Derinkuyu, Sarhatli or Ozkonak. Through tunnels and galleries, it is possible to access vestiges of its former inhabitants and places that functioned as churches, schools, houses, among other places. The origin of these cities is not known for sure, but it is estimated that they are more than three thousand years old.

Another option is to schedule tours through the beautiful valleys of cappadocia. Among them, the famous Love Valley, or Love Valley, which features rock formations with peculiar shapes, nicknamed fairy chimneys. The Monks Valley is another option, also with dozens of fairy chimneys and caves to discover.
