But don't worry, it's possible to plan a trip that shows you the main attractions of Greece and the Greek islands. Starting with the trip to the capital, as there is no direct flight from Brazil to the city, the tip is to take a flight that has a stopover and then go to Athens. Arriving there, you may find it a little strange that the country's alphabet is very different from ours. For those who do not speak any Greek, and as in the country not everyone speaks English (let alone Portuguese), the suggestion is to try to find a tourist guide, which you can get at the information desk at the airport, how to hire a guide who speaks Portuguese and helps you get around the city better.

Among the sights worth visiting, we start by highlighting the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis, a monument erected in the 5th century BC to the Greek gods. Representing the illuminated beacon of classical civilization, the site is home to famous buildings such as the Parthenon and the Erechtheion and are perched on top of a rock 490 meters above the sea. From there it is possible to have a panoramic view of the entire region.

The Paternon, a temple dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena, was built by Pericles, ruler of the city, and is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the country. An emblem of Greek architecture, the building has survived over the centuries and is one of the most important archaeological sites in the West.

Southeast of the Acropolis, within a 15-minute walk, the visitor can appreciate the temple dedicated to the Olympian God, Zeus. Considered the biggest Greece ancient, its construction began in 515 AD and was completed during the Roman occupation of the country. Of the original 104 columns, 15 still stand, showing some of the temple's splendor in the past. Each marble column is over 17 meters high. To the northwest of the temple, it is still possible to appreciate the Arch of Hadrian, 18 meters high, erected in honor of Emperor Hadrian in 131 BC.

Located in the center of Athens, the city's most famous square is named after the constitution that King Otto I was forced to accept, Syntagma. Nowadays it has an important political role, being one of the main destinations for protests by the Athenian population. A mandatory stop as it is surrounded by the city's main monuments, shops, restaurants and cafes. From the Temple of Zeus, Syntagma square is just 2.5 km away, a 15-minute walk.

Considered the best view of Athens, Mount Lycabettus, a limestone formation that rises 277 meters above sea level, the tour is ideal to end the day with a beautiful sunset. It is 30 minutes away from Syntagma Square on foot, at a distance of 3.5 km, but can also be accessed by a funicular ride.
