At speedboats fast also known as “flywheels”, leave in the first period of the day exclusively from the small port located in Beira Rio, in the center of Barreirinhas or on decks offered in some hotels and restaurants located on the edge of the river. Rio Preguiças. The tour lasts an average of 7 to 8 hours, passing through three attractions spread over a 42km route: Vassouras, Mandacaru and Caburé.

The first stop is approximately 30 minutes from the city of Barreirinhas. To get there, the visitor travels through an extensive area of the Rio Preguiças protected by a large area of mangroves that shelter a diversity of fauna and flora unique to the region, such as the exotic buritis trees and birds such as the guará-rosa, a bird that reaches pink, salmon or red color when adults because of its food. with crabs and shrimp.

It is in Vassouras that the friendly and charming little nail monkeys interact with visitors. At this point, residents of the region also take advantage of the constant movement of tourists to present handicrafts and some spices from the region. Those who want to cool off can take advantage of the location's proximity to the Rio Preguiças and relax in the warm and calm waters of the river.

The second stop is the charming village of Mandacaru, where the famous lighthouse opened in 1940 is managed by the Brazilian Navy. To reach the top it is necessary to face a narrow staircase with 160 steps, the effort is rewarded with a 360º view of the region, where the tourist can see the entrance to the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, a stretch of the Rio Preguiça, Praia de Caburé and the fishing village. After physical activity, the best way to refresh yourself is to taste the immensely sweet coconut water of the region, or taste the caipirinhas sold in the city's port with fruits of the state, such as cashew, cajá, soursop and murici.

To close the tour with a flourish, we spent the rest of the day on the peninsula of Caburé, an extensive strip of sand that separates the waters of the coast from the fresh waters of the Rio Preguiças. At this stop, the tourist can also enjoy the rich regional cuisine with dishes based on seafood, in the restaurant options scattered along the coast.
