Death Road, in Bolivia: discover one of the most sought after and dangerous attractions in the country. Discover some curiosities of the tourist attraction

Built by Paraguayan prisoners of war in the 1930s, the Camino de la Muerte (Death's Path) also known as “Camino de los Yungas” It is famous worldwide for being considered the most dangerous road in the world. The reason is the lack of safety as there are no barriers along the route and in some sections there are precipices up to 500 meters high.

The most impressive thing about this road is its width, at some points the track is so narrow that it reaches a minimum of 3 meters in length.

The most striking accident took place in the 1980s, when a bus full of passengers "plunged" into a cliff, killing around 100 people in Bolivia's worst road accident. Although it became a little less dangerous after 2007, when the opening of a new road took much of the traffic off the road.

Some more distant villages, where the new road does not reach, continue using only the old road as access, so an average of 100 people still travel daily.
