One of the most coveted New Years Eve in Brazil, incredible beaches, hype and lots of energy, it's no wonder that Florianopolis, capital of Santa Catarina, in the southern region of Brazil, is also known as the island of magic. In its small territory, with only 54 km that are almost impassable at the end of the year, there are several attractions and tours that delight tourists. According to the manezinhos, as the inhabitants who were born on the island are known, whoever drinks the water of these enchanted lands always comes back.
Attractions in Florianopolis
when thinking about Florianopolis, the first thing that comes to mind are the beaches, after all, there are plenty of options to enjoy the hottest days. But be careful, because during the winter it is usually quite cold in the region, so the tip to enjoy the best that the sun and sea can offer is to choose to travel during the warmer months, which go from December to March.
The list of options is long, however, the most famous are the Praia do Mole, indicated for those who want to forget about the problems of everyday life, because “life is hard, but the beach is soft”, but don't be fooled, because its waves are very strong. Another darling among tourists is Praia da Joaquina, where its beautiful dunes are also located.
When it comes to partying and luxury, Jurerê Internacional it's right place. Frequented by celebrities and millionaires, it is a high-end condominium, where the beach of the same name is located, whose shore is made up of electronic clubs, bars and trendy restaurants. On the other hand, for those looking for tranquility and a more rustic look, you should opt for Praia do Campeche, which is considered one of the best in the country. It is 3 km long and has a wide strip of sand that contrasts with the greenish and very cold sea. To discover an even more preserved nature, people usually go by boat to the Campeche Island, which is in front of the beach and is stunning, with archaeological sites with cave paintings, trails and crystal clear waters, suitable for snorkeling.
Leaving the beach circuit, urban life in Florianópolis is very intense, especially in the city center, where there are very interesting places to visit, such as the Municipal Market, one of the main postcards of the city. There are a multitude of souvenir shops, which form an open-air mall, and of course, stalls selling regional delicacies to taste.
To have a different and striking view of the city, another place that cannot be missed is the Hercílio Luz Bridge, which is close to the center, whose architecture is impressive. It is there that in the end-of-year festivities there are also fireworks, for those who want to celebrate in a quieter place. And of course, strolling along Avenida Beira Mar, the most important capital, is almost like feeling at home, as if you were already a local. Stay overnight in one of the most bohemian neighborhoods, Conceição Lagoon, where there are several options of bars and restaurants.
Did you think that in this itinerary there would be no viewpoint to appreciate all the magic of the island from above? Never. Don't end your trip without visiting the Mirante Morro da Cruz, which is at an altitude of 285 meters and is responsible for one of the best views of Florianopolis. And if you have time, visit Santo Antônio de Lisboa, a historic district that is pure charm, with historic buildings, houses, churches and a sunset, which is a true spectacle of nature.
