All immunizers applied in Brazil are on the list of vaccines to enter the USA. With this, from November 8, immunized Brazilians will be able to travel there
It is confirmed: the U.S will accept all vaccines applied in Brazil and, as a result, Brazilian travelers will be able to travel to the country again from the 8th of November.
The announcement was made by the White House on October 25th and, according to the statement, the vaccines to enter the USA will be all those approved by the WHO (World Health Organization), which includes Coronavac.
Travelers will, however, need to prove that they have taken both doses or a single dose at least two weeks before departure. It will also be necessary to present the negative Covid-19 test, carried out up to 72 hours before departure.
The expectation is that, with the reopening of the country to Brazilian travelers and from countries such as China, India, South Africa and several European countries, the airfare price and US stays will increase along with demand. But it is still possible to get good deals for various destinations in the country.
Find out which vaccines are accepted in the US
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has decided to release all WHO-approved vaccines, with the exception of the Russian Sputnik V. Thus, the vaccines accepted in the US are: Pfizer, AstraZeneca (including Covishield), Janssen, Moderna, Sinopharm and Sinovac (Coronavac). The news cheered those who intend to travel to the country and were concerned if there would be any restrictions on the type of vaccine.
This is because, despite all WHO-approved vaccines having proven efficiency, some countries do not accept travelers vaccinated with immunizations that are not used by them, as is the case in Europe in relation to Coronavac. Another example is the AstraZeneca vaccine used in Brazil, which, because it is not the same type manufactured in Europe, is not accepted in several countries.
What will it take to travel to the US from now on?
If you are looking to travel to the United States as soon as the borders are released for Brazilian travelers, you need to be aware of all the rules for entering the country, both new and old.
To help you, we will detail each of the documents required. Check it out below:
proof of vaccination
All vaccines applied in Brazil will be accepted. But you must have taken two doses or a single dose. It is likely that the certificate issued by the Connect SUS be enough (learn how to issue it here), but this information will still be confirmed by the US government in the coming days.
Children and adolescents up to 18 years of age will not be required to present proof of vaccination, only needing a negative Covid-19 test. If they are accompanied by a vaccinated adult, the test must be carried out up to 3 days before departure. If they are not accompanied by a vaccinated adult, the test must be done within 1 day before departure.
Will be exempt from proof of vaccination, in addition to those under 18, people who participated in some clinical trials of possible vaccines against Covid-19, travelers with medical contraindications for vaccines and people who need to travel urgently due to some humanitarian reason. However, in all these cases it will be necessary to present the negative Covid-19 test, carried out 24 hours before departure.
Negative Covid-19 test
The United States accepts both RT-PCR and antigen. However, both tests must be completed within 72 hours of departure and proof must be presented at check-in.
The requirement to present a valid passport during the entire period of stay in the United States remains. The issuance of the document is standardized in Brazil.
A valid US visa is also mandatory for entry into the country. However, unlike the passport, interviews for issuing new visas have been suspended by the US Embassy and Consulates since the beginning of the pandemic. Because of this, the waiting list is long and appointments are only being scheduled for the end of 2022.
However, it is expected that, with the reopening of the country, the interviews will take place again. In addition, for those who need to renew their visa (expired less than 48 months), the service is simplified and there is no need for a new interview.
Proof of stay and travel resources
It also remains mandatory to inform the place of stay and reason for the trip, in addition to proving that you have the resources to support yourself during your stay in the country, with cash or account, prepaid reservations, credit or debit cards.
