Learn more about Caraíva, famous for representing the meeting of the river and the sea, but which has a small and rustic atmosphere that provides a unique experience

Known as the place where the river meets the sea, caraiva, at the south of Bahia, has become a very coveted destination by tourists, due to the way of life, culture and of course, natural paradises that it houses. This rustic village offers unique experiences, with its sandy streets and no streetlights. That's right! There is electricity, which, incidentally, arrived a short time ago, in 2008, with an important demand from the town: that the installation be done with buried wiring so as not to take away the brightness of the night from the stars in the sky.

A phrase found on the city's website says “Here, life gets lighter, more beautiful and with another vibe”. I think we've gathered enough reasons for you to be curious to know this little piece of another world, so understand how to get there. The village is a district of safe harbor and is 70 km from the site, it is where most tourists depart. It is possible to get there by car or bus and then cross the river that crosses the region by boat, but the journey is very short and takes an average of 5 minutes. But, attention, drivers, in the village it is not allowed to enter by car, so you will have to park in the village of Nova Caraíva. One more reason for so much charm.

If you want a real experience of disconnection on a deserted beach, without a doubt, you will be enchanted by Praia do Satu, located a little further from the village, 4 km, but enough to keep the spotlight away from tourists. But don't be fooled by this, as it is a spectacle on its own, made up of natural pools, cliffs and coconut trees. Furthermore, its geography is so privileged that it has two lagoons, one with fresh water and the other with salt water. To get there, you have to cross the Caraíva River by boat and walk along the sand, which is another attraction of the tour, as there are other beaches along the way, such as Praia do Lontra and Camarã.

Barra beach

Get ready to visit one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, Praia da Barra, the main beach in Caraíva and famous for providing the meeting between river and sea. Busier, it is chosen by many tourists who want to spend the day, washed down with food and drinks from the kiosks that are on site. In addition, it offers options for bathing in fresh or salt water, which makes it even more special. A tip: do not miss the sunset there, as it is one of the highlights of the trip. The best news is that it is located just a five-minute walk from the center of the village. No excuses to enjoy this little piece of the Northeast.

Caraiva beach

Walking along Praia da Barra, it is possible to find a strip of sand and there begins Praia de Caraíva, one next to the other. The sea has a brown color, due to the Caraíva River, which flows there, however when the tide is high, it gets clearer, but regardless, it is a place that deserves a visit. It is that very democratic beach, which pleases all tastes, who prefers something more desert, can find a very quiet corner, after a walk on the sand. If hunger strikes, or you're looking for fun, look for a table at one of the bars.

A mandatory stop and one of the postcards of the village, the Caraíva River is a great attraction for travelers, who take the opportunity to recharge their energies in its refreshing waters. Those who want to rest, to enjoy the edge and enjoy the landscape, for the adventurers, there are kayak and boat trips to appreciate the natural beauties more closely, or even, there are those who prefer to go down the river by buoy. Fun will not be lacking! Now, to make this moment unforgettable, be sure to enjoy the sunset.

Buggy's ride

The Buggy ride is another option to discover the most distant places in Caraíva, which are true gems of nature. It is possible to venture into the area, discovering even the most unknown corners. The most common route is the one that takes you to Ponta do Corumbau, where you can see a sea in shades of blue and green, perfect for relaxing in this place still little explored by tourism. During the tour, it is still possible to cool off in the Corumbau River amidst the sand and mangrove landscape.

36 km away from Caraiva is trancoso, the famous and most luxurious destination in the South of Bahia, which offers beautiful beaches and options for cultural and historical tours. It is very common to take a day trip or visit both places in one trip, so if you are thinking about it, the number one tip is: take a leisurely walk through the Quadrado de Trancoso, enjoying the landscape and its colorful houses. As for the beach, the list is quite long, but start with the more urban ones, located close to the center: Praia dos Nativos and Praia dos Coqueiros, great options to spend the day.

Mirror Beach

If you have time, be sure to check out the Mirror Beach, located in Trancoso, another district of safe harbor. There are some tour options in Caraíva that offer this transport, which can be done by buggy, car or bus. Arriving there you will find perfect natural pools, which are even more beautiful with the surrounding scenery, composed of cliffs in pink and red tones. And like every paradise beach, coconut trees that border the sand strip cannot be missing.
