Largest mobilization in the world to raise awareness of climate change, Earth Hour will be celebrated next Saturday, the 30th

THE Earth hour, the world's largest event on climate change, organized by the WWF, will take place next Saturday, March 30th. The action mobilizes people from all over the world so that, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on this day, they turn off their lights in an act in favor of preserving the environment.

Several cities and countries will join the cause and turn off the lights of emblematic monuments in an act of collective awareness about changing habits to reduce the impacts caused on the planet.

Monuments such as the Shanghai Tower, the port of Hong Kong, the Burj Khalifa skyscraper in Dubai, the Red Square in Moscow, the Acropolis in Athens, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the pyramids in Egypt, the St. Rome, London's Big Ben and the UN Headquarters in New York will be some of the iconic attractions that will dim their lights for an hour.

According to the WWF, in Brazil, several cities will also participate in the action. Besides Brasilia, which will turn off the lights of the Buriti Palace, the TV Tower and the National Stadium, another 94 cities have already signed up from the Earth Hour website, stating that they will delete their monuments or hold events on March 30th.

Belo Horizonte, for example, will leave Praça Sete, the city hall building, Praça do Papa and the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in the dark. At the Rio de Janeiro, the Pão de Açúcar Cable Car, the Belmond Copacabana Palace and the historic CCBB Rio are some of the city's symbols whose lights will be turned off on the 30th. Strength, five monuments were included in the movement, especially the statue of Iracema and Praça do Ferreira.

In 2018, cities from 188 countries participated in the act. At the Brazil, around 100 municipalities and 1,500 monuments were left in the dark for an hour. The entity encourages people to also turn off the lights in their homes and take the opportunity to think about good practices to make the planet more sustainable.
