If you always put an obstacle when it comes to traveling to Europe with little money, here is an example that it is possible to do more with less. Diogo Bhovan is only 19 years old, but he has always dreamed of traveling the world. As he didn't have the money for that, he decided to stay in Europe, spending just one euro a day.

At first his family did not accept the crazy idea of the young Portuguese man. Diogo then left home with just 31 euros to go through eight European countries in a month. Diogo did everything he could to get accommodation, food and transport – he slept in trucks, hitchhiked, worked at a festival and even begged for a hamburger. He gained courage and spoke to as many people as he could. Many said no to their requests, others did not even respond, but there were also several who showed solidarity.

According to Diogo, the friendship and solidarity of the people are the best memories of this trip. And the newspaper P3 recalls a curious episode: in Italy, tired of waiting, the young traveler went to the middle of the road to hitchhike. The driver of the passing bus stopped and gave the ride, in the middle of the trip everyone wanted to know his story. As would be expected, he soon got accommodation with one of the passengers, who even joined other people to offer Diogo a dinner at a pizzeria. “I felt famous”, says the young man.

But the stories don't end there: Diogo learned, traveling, that there are many good people around this world. “I met people in all these countries that were completely extraordinary, who didn't know me and who gave me the keys to their house, who told me to eat whatever I wanted from the fridge,” he recalls. In Brussels, there was even a woman who called to say that she could get her house key at the restaurant where she worked and “come in and make yourself comfortable”.
